Tuesday

Tuesday--just a day.  Nothing special.  But Tuesdays are go go go go go go go--all day.  I have a to-do list of 26 items--that's 26 just for me.  There are another 26 for work.  That's just me--then there's the girls--Tuesday is music day.  We have orchestra practice in the morning and piano in the evening.  Nick is somewhere in the world so that means today, it's all me.  The day begins like any other.

3:30--get up.
3:40--ok, now REALLY get up.  That's it lazy bum--out of bed!  Kick the cat off yourself and do your best to roll (literally) out of bed without over exerting.  Put on those gym clothes and get yourself going!
3:55--start the coffee
3:56--get down to the gym.  Do no procrastinate--nothing on that desk needs immediate attention.  You do NOT need to count how many boxes of Kleenex we have left or how many bags of chips there are.  Oh, wait--yes on the chips.  We're almost out.
4:00--start that warm up.  Put on the belly band, pop in the headphones, start up the "MOVE!" playlist and prop the book up on the treadmill.  Start slow--it's OK.
4:10--warm up is over.  Now RUN!  Ok, slow jog.  Just a mile--maybe a mile and a quarter but that's all.  Just remember, the coffee will be ready by the time you're done.
4:30--ok stop.  Catch your breath and go get some coffee.  You've earned it.
4:35--coffee, Bible, journal, writing practice.  You have the length of one cup to get it all done.
5:05--back on that treadmill--get in another mile at least.
5:35--better stop.  Gotta get in the shower before Ivy is up.
5:40--you have 3 minutes to shower. GO!
5:45--you have 15 minutes to get dressed, dry hair, paint face and be ready for hurricane Bebo.
6:00--cue the Bebo alarm.  She's up and READY.  Good thing you are too.  You have 30 minutes to get her dressed, fed, hair fixed and out of her face (so she doesn't chew on it), fix PB&J sandwiches (the standard piano night dinner), pack up my "important work" and finish my pre-work coffee.  Decaf!
6:30--start the car--it's cold.
6:32--get all of the crap I carry around into the car while it warms up and defrosts.
6:35--you're actually ahead.  Sure, more coffee, but in a to-go mug.
6:40--the "we have ten minutes" alarm goes off.  Get those kids moving!  Hats and gloves!  Instruments!  Piano night dinner into the cooler bag!  Grab Bebo's backpack full of fake food and her princess tiara--never leave home without them.
6:48--congratulations--you are in the car and pulling out of the driveway with 2 minutes to spare!
7:00--arrive at daycare.
7:13--arrive at elementary school for orchestra.
7:15--off to work!
7:35--place mobile Starbucks order.
7:50--pick up mobile Starbucks order.
7:55--arrive at work.
8:00--you have 30 minutes before everyone else arrives.  Make the most of it.  No email checking.  Do something productive.
9:00--first meeting.  This one is easy--just staff.
10:30--head out to second meeting.  You're prepared.  It's only a $50,000 request.  Easy peasy.
12:00--you've earned lunch...but that doesn't mean you can stop working to eat it.  Besides, we have a new staff member so lunch is out with the team.  Use that valuable car time to discuss important issues.
1:15--work work work work work!  There are 15 things left on that list!
4:25--leave NOW or you'll be late!  But don't forget to pack up all of that stuff you didn't finish.
4:58--you've managed to hit every green light and no traffic!  You're at daycare for the pickup 7 minutes early!
5:02--Call Ivy.  Tell the girls to be waiting outside with piano bags and the door locked in ten minutes.
5:09--early AGAIN!  Good thing those girls are on top of it and outside waiting when you get there!
5:15--arrive at Wawa.  Buy drinks and chips--everyone worked hard and we have time.
5:28--arrive at piano.  Set out dinner and enjoy some family time while they have lessons and finish going through that email list.  There's money in them there files!  FIND IT!
6:30--pack it up!  If we make it home and get everyone bathed and showered in time, we can enjoy some cookies and a little Rudolph (yes, the creepy claymation one).  GO!
6:45--Iris--in the shower!  Bebo--to the tub!  Ivy--tidy up that room!  Go go GO!  There are cookies on the line!
7:15--not bad.  Iris has always been a straggler.  Cookies for everyone!
8:00--Rudolph isn't quite over yet but Ivy and I are both falling asleep.  Off to bed!  Oh, wait--still things to do.  Set up tomorrow's coffee.  Pack your lunch.  Pack Bebo's lunch.  Layout gym clothes.  Layout work clothes. Make sure everyone has clean socks.  This is important.  Check over that list--all finished?  YES!
8:30--ok now really into bed.  You can read for 30 minutes.
9:00--Bedtime!  Where's the cat?  Better get her in here now or she'll just whine outside.

And THAT my friends, was the day I got it together!  AND KEPT IT together ALL DAY!

Wednesday--well, they can't all be so perfect.
